Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks

The Nintendo Switch 2 along with the next generation of pokemon games has been leaked!

Game Freak, the developer of Pokémon, has reportedly suffered a major data breach. The company’s server was accessed illegally, exposing the names and email addresses of 2,606 current, former, and contract employees. While the breach announcement, dated October 10, 2024, did not mention Pokémon-related data, leaks have since revealed sensitive information about upcoming projects.

The leaked data includes codenames for future Pokémon games and the next-gen Nintendo console, with the codename “Ounce” linked to the Nintendo Switch 2 and “Gaia” tied to the 10th generation Pokémon game. Additionally, two versions of the 10th generation game, codenamed “K” and “N,” are reportedly planned for both the Switch and its successor. Another unannounced game, “Synapse,” is rumored to be a Pokémon MMO co-developed with another studio.

The breach also revealed source code from older Pokémon DS games, unused assets, and music. Information about a canceled sequel to the 2019 Detective Pikachu movie, tentatively titled The Great Detective Pikachu, also emerged. Additionally, rumors surfaced of a Netflix-produced live-action Pokémon series, still unannounced.

This incident echoes the 2020 “gigaleak” of Nintendo data, which exposed canceled games and internal communications. Nintendo has yet to comment on the leaks or its next-gen console, though there has been speculation about its release based on alleged prototype images. Game Freak has apologized for the breach and stated that the vulnerability that allowed the hack has been addressed.

In Pokémon’s near future, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is slated for a 2025 release, possibly on both the Switch and the Switch 2, making it one of the most anticipated cross-generation titles. Fans are also facing an extended gap between mainline Pokémon games, with no major releases expected in 2024, except for the Pokémon Trading Card Game on mobile.
